About
Welcome to the fifth annual round of Summer of SHINee!The goal of this fest is to promote the creation of fics about our beloved SHINee! Whether you'd like to send in a prompt, write a fic, beta read, or simply enjoy all the wonderful stories, we're pleased to have you here.
Rules
As always, prompts can be about anything you choose, but please keep our guidelines in mind when prompting and writing!
- main pairings must be shinee member/shinee member. crossover pairings can be included as side pairings!- platonic pairings and prompts with no romance are allowed as well.- minimum word count for all fics is 1000 words. there is no maximum word count- prohibited themes: pedophilia/illegal age gap, rape/non-con, incest, major character death- themes that must be tagged: graphic depictions of violence, drug use, alcohol use.- plagiarism will not be tolerated- the use of ChatGPT or any similar AI tool to assist in writing fics is prohibited for this fest and all events run by our team- please stick to deadlines as closely as possible! if you need assistance, the mods are willing to work with everyone and meet their needs.

Prompting Guidelines
- anyone can send in a prompt. you don't have to claim one to send one, and you can send as many as you like!- the prompting form will open on June 5, and close on June 19.
- once prompting ends, a spreadsheet of all the prompts will be shared and claiming will begin!
Self-Prompting
for writers who prefer to work with their own ideas, self-prompting will be available again this year!- self-prompts must still adhere to all content guidelines- all deadlines will apply to self-prompters as well, including check-ins and submission- to self-prompt, you will fill out our self-prompting form instead of the regular prompting form.
Claiming Guidelines
- claiming will run from June 20 - August 20- you may claim a prompt by filling out the claiming form- prompts will be first-come, first-serve, and you'll be asked to list your top 3 prompts on the claiming form- once the mods receive your request for a claim, we will send you a confirmation email, and you can begin writing!- as prompts are claimed, they'll be marked off the prompt spreadsheet- you may claim up to 2 prompts at once
Beta Guidelines
Becoming a beta reader and what it entails:A beta reader usually works with the author throughout the writing process to support them in things such as (but not limited to):
- spelling and grammar
- plot development
- pacing
- background researchBeta readers are optional but encouraged, especially if you do not already have someone to proofread your writing.As a beta, you get to gain valuable proofreading skills and get involved in the writing process, so it’s really beneficial to all!- You may fill out the beta volunteer form once it becomes available if you would like to sign up to be a beta reader!- If you are an author and would like someone to beta read for you, you can fill out the beta request form once it becomes available.
Posting Process
- once you finish your fic, you will submit it to our ao3 collection- you must submit your fic to the collection by the submission deadline: September 1st- if you need an extension for any reason, please contact us through email, twitter dm, or retrospring!- if you need to drop out of the event, please do so by the drop-out deadline: August 20- fics will remain anonymous throughout the reveals week, and authors will be revealed on Sept.14!- more details of the posting process will be emailed to writers closer to the submission deadline
